The Early Imperial Roman army of DBA (II/56) is dated from 25BC to 197AD which roughly matches the period of the Roman Principate when auxiliary cohortes were almost at the level of legions in terms of numbers, training and quality
You can also choose a 4Bd as a General but I believe II/56 has enough blades already without adding another base
The 4 x 4Bd are required and represent the legions that formed the core of the army. You can get an additional 4Bd by designating your general as such
The 4 x 4Ax are also required and represent the auxiliary cohortes whose number equalled that of legions according to most sources
One of the 3Cv is required, the other can be exchanged for 1 x 2LH, 1 x 4Bw or 1 x 2Ps, but I like cavalry
I don’t really like roman artillery but it is required for the army
